Detoxification

Detoxification is the process of removing toxic substances from the body.

How does our body get rid of toxins?

Water or Fluid Retention is an accumulation of excessive fluid in the circulatory system, body tissues or cavities. The circulatory system moves nutrients, gases and wastes to and from cells to help fight diseases as well as helping stabilize the body’s temperature and pH. Two types of fluids move through the circulatory system: blood and lymph. The blood and the heart and blood vessels form the cardiovascular system. The lymph, lymph nodes and lymph vessels form the lymphatic system along with Spleen.

What is the importance of Lymphatic System?

One of the lymphatic system’s major jobs is to collect extra lymph fluid from body tissues and return it to the blood. This process is important because water, proteins, and other substances are continuously leaking out of tiny blood capillaries into the surrounding body tissues. If the lymphatic system didn’t drain the excess fluid, it would build up in the body’s tissues and they would swell.

The lymphatic system also helps defend the body against germs like viruses, bacteria, and fungi that can cause illnesses. This is done by Lymphocytes present in the lymph nodes, which are small masses of tissue located along the network of lymph vessels.

The spleen is located in the upper left part of the abdomen under the ribcage. It works as part of the lymphatic system to protect the body, clearing worn-out red blood cells and other foreign bodies from the bloodstream to help fight off infection.

What are the common causes of Water Retention?

  • Lack of physical activity
  • Thyroid disorders
  • Low Blood pressure

  • Premenstrual

What are treatments for Water Retention?

  • Diet modifications like reducing salt intake and increasing intake of Magnesium, Potassium and Vitamin B6.

What treatment is available at Define Aesthetics for Detoxification?

Define Aesthetics Lymphatic Drainage treatment functions on the principle of intermittent pneumatic compression, also known as Presso-therapy. The targeted area to be treated is inserted into an inflatable sleeve. The sleeve is filled with compressed air, regulated by the control unit, via a system of hoses. Each of sleeves consists of a series of mutually independent air chambers that are inflated in a predefined cycle according to the requirement of the patient. This intermittent pneumatic Presso-therapy stimulates Lymphatic System to improve Lymphatic drainage. It helps in improving circulation, drainage of fat metabolites and toxins and reduces water retention.
