Belly Fat is the fat that gets deposited around belly (abdomen). The trouble with belly fat is that it's not limited to the extra layer of padding located just below the skin which is subcutaneous fat. It also includes visceral fat - which lies deep inside
your abdomen, surrounding your internal organs.There are 2 types- of fats that get deposited around your abdomen.
Subcutaneous fat is found directly under the skin. It's the fat that's measured using skin-fold calipers to estimate your total body fat.This fat aids in the process of hemostasis, by forming a layer of insulation to slow heat loss.
2.Visceral Fat (Intra-abdominal fat)
Visceral fat gets deposited around the inner organs in the belly (stomach, liver, intestines, kidneys, etc.) and spells trouble for your health.It interferes with sugar metabolism and also increases blood cholesterol level.Visceral fat increases your risk for diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and even dementia. Yet an increase in belly fat does more than make it hard to zip up your jeans. Research shows that belly fat also carries serious health risks. However, belly fat reduction treatment is possible
Your weight is largely determined by how you balance the calories you eat with the energy you burn. If you eat too much and exercise too little, you're likely to carry excess weight including belly fat.The tendency to gain or carry weight around the waist and have an "apple" rather than a "pear" shape might have a genetic component.. However, aging also plays a role. Muscle mass might diminish slightly with age, while fat increases. Loss of muscle mass also decreases the rate at which your body uses calories, which can make it more challenging to maintain a healthy weight. Many women also notice an increase in belly fat as they get older, even if they aren't gaining weight. This is likely due to a decreasing level of estrogen, which appears to influence where fat is distributed in the body. Women tend to have a condition called 'Divarication of Recti' which develops post-pregnancy. This needs to be tackled separately. Genetically Indian men tend to put on fat around their waist, mainly due to lifestyle, genes and excessive smoking and drinking
Although subcutaneous fat poses cosmetic concerns, visceral fat is linked with far more dangerous health problems, including:
Research also has associated belly fat with an increased risk of premature death, regardless of overall weight. In fact, some studies have found that even when women were considered a normal weight based on standard body mass index (BMI) measurements, a large waistline increased the risk of dying of cardiovascular disease.
As per WHO guidelines adult waist circumference cut points for risk calculation for Indians are:
Men <= 90 cm (35.5 ")
Women <= 80 cm (31.5")
At Define Aesthetics, we use a combination of technologies to treat belly fat. Our technologies include Ion Magnum, HiFU, and Radiofrequency. Ion Magnum is an advanced fitness system that rapidly burns fat and delivers the benefits of an intense, professional workout without the pain, physical exertion or inconvenience of conventional exercise. Under HiFU, The high frequency of the ultrasound wave results in heating under the skin, effectively destroying the fat cells and tightening the skin in the area treated.In Radiofrequency the metabolic activity is initiated and the local fat tissue lipolysis process is accelerated resulting in reduction of fat layer and skin tightening.
Our doctors are trained to understand and diagnose the fat and reason that lead to fat gain. 'Divarication of Recti' being a common possible post pregnancy factor. They then treat it with special care with a tailored plan for fat loss using the most suitable technologies.
